Dr. Bonny Stewart is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (TX, AZ), Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (TX, AZ), and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor (RPT-S) specializing in assessment, play therapy, consultation, and evidence-based interventions. She has over twenty years of experience working with children and families. 

 

Dr. Stewart received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Arizona State University. She earned her Master of Arts and Doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the APA-accredited program at the Arizona School of Professional Psychology with an emphasis in child & adolescent psychology. Dr. Stewart completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship in clinical child psychology at Primary Children’s Hospital  in Salt Lake City, Utah and her post-doctoral fellowship at Childhelp Children’s Center of Arizona where she provided trauma-informed clinical services and victim/family advocacy.

Dr. Stewart went on to earn her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction,  Applied Behavioral Analysis from Arizona State University. Her clinical interests include early identification, assessment, and effective therapeutic interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and developmental disabilities.

 

As a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), Dr. Stewart provides independent educational evaluations for students in both public and private schools. She has extensive expertise in the special education and Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, the assessment of dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD, and the identification of gifted and talented students, including twice exceptional (2e) learners.

Dr. Stewart is a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor with extensive experience helping children, adolescents, and families navigate emotional and behavioral challenges. She uses play therapy to help children express feelings, process experiences, and develop healthy coping skills in a developmentally appropriate way. With teens, Dr. Stewart incorporates talk therapy, expressive arts, and sand tray therapy to foster self-awareness, strengthen self-esteem, and promote emotional growth.

She has advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed treatment approaches. Dr. Stewart is an EMDR Certified Therapist and is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her compassionate, evidence-based approach helps young people heal from trauma, build resilience, and achieve lasting emotional well-being.

 

Dr. Stewart specializes in evidence-based treatments such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Parent Management Training (PMT), helping families reduce challenging behaviors, improve communication, and build stronger, more positive parent-child relationships.

Dr. Stewart is authorized through the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) and the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) to provide telepsychology services to individuals located in 42 participating states. This authorization allows eligible clients to receive psychological services remotely while maintaining compliance with applicable interstate practice regulations.
